A spring break adventure

We decided at the last minute to go camping for spring break. Daniel had two days off from work and school which almost never happens! So we took advantage of the situation. We decided to go camping in the circle cliffs near Boulder, UT. It was our first trip all together as a family with Daniel, Canyon, Aspen and I. I know now for sure that Canyon was meant to come to our family. He LOVED camping! He is such a little explorer. When we first got out of the car, he immediately starting digging in the dirt. Then he walked around and picked up different sticks, climbed on logs and rocks, and picked leaves off of the plants. It was such a fun adventure! We went for a little hike around our camping spot. There was a small stream near our camp site. Canyon was so excited when he saw it that Daniel decided to help him play in it.

Canyon loved the camp fire! He would sit and stare at it for hours. He even got a piece of roasted marshmallow (and quickly spit it out). In the morning he and Daniel sat and threw sticks into the fire.

Here are Canyon and Aspen dreaming of what they are going to explore that day. Canyon would try hard to follow Aspen where she went...Aspen is still a little faster than Canyon:)

Canyon even loved the tent!
We decided to go to Escalante and we hiked Calf Creek Falls. Daniel and Canyon are once again throwing sticks...this time into the river at the swimming fish.

Calf Creek Falls! Isn't it beautiful. When we first saw the falls Canyon was really excited. He said "wow wow!" He didn't like getting too close because it was very windy right by the falls. Doesn't Aspen look noble in the picture:)
This is how we hiked Canyon into see the falls. A baby backpack. Luckily Daniel carried him. He actually liked it! If he would start to get mad, Daniel would jump off rocks and run fast and Canyon thought it was hilarous. He did really good considering it was an hour and 15 minute hike each way! (Canyon's hair looks crazy because I sprayed sunscreen all over his head).

Canyon hates riding in the car and hates sitting in the car seat. It really helped to have Aspen riding next to him. When I would look back at him he would always have one hand on Aspen petting her and from time to time he would make oooh sounds. He loves that dog!

Snowmobiling Heaven

We recently got to go on a fun vacation to Island Park, ID to do some snowmobiling. It was awesome! We stayed in a really cool cabin and spent our days playing games, eating treats, and of course snowmobiling. Canyon did not like the snowmobile. He was very upset about the whole experience. He did however get to play with his cousin Lydia for 5 days straight which he loved! We also suffered a tragedy. While I was snowmobiling I hit a patch of really deep powder and crashed!!and got stuck in a tree!! I was fine but our camera had extreme injuries and is no longer with us:( That is why I only have a few pictures of our trip.

Doesn't Canyon look cute even though he is so sad.

Happy 1st Birthday Canyon!!!

Ok. It is official. I have a one year old! A toddler! I have very mixed feeling about Canyon turning one. Don't get me wrong, I love how much fun Canyon is at this age. He has his own little personality that develops more and more each day. This has definitely been the most rewarding and most challenging year of my life. I love being a mom! But part of me is sad that this past year came and went so fast and I no longer have a tiny cuddly baby. How time flies! Anyway, we had a little birthday part for Canyon and he got a load of goods from his grandma's, grandpa's, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Canyon is definitely loved!
Here is Canyon's birthday cake. It is a Finding Nemo cake. We thought it was the cutest one. They also gave Canyon a small round cake for free and just for him. I love Macys!

Canyon is playing with a puzzle he got for his birthday. If you look closely you can see his birthday shirt. What a cutie!
Canyon wasn't quite sure what was going on when we were singing happy birthday to him. That explains that shocked look on his face:)

Canyon loved the fact that he could just start eating a big cake. He was timid at first and then he really got into it. In fact, we had to take it away before he got sick.

The proud parents of a one year old!!!

Canyon at 1:
Canyon weighs 18 lbs 8 oz. He walks around everywhere and can even stand up in the middle of the floor all by himself without having to pull himself up onto anything! Canyon says dada, mom, mama, uh-oh, wow, oh, baba, and kitty (well almost, it sounds like kee kee). Canyon loves books and sits and turns the pages over and over. He also is the graham cracker monster!! He will stand at the cupboard where he know the crackers are kept and just start yelling until someone gives him one. Little rascal. Canyon is a little daddy's boy and cries every time Daniel has to leave for work. He gets into everything constantly and is now trying to climb up on everything too! He loves to explore new things. When he finds something that he thinks is cool he says "wow!" over and over again. He shakes his head no if I ask him if he made a mess or got into something that he should have gotten into! He has a blanket that he is completely in love with. He like to roll around on the ground with it and give it loves. Canyon is also giving kisses and waving bye bye. He loves animals and even gets excited when he sees them on commericals. Canyon dances everytime he hears music. He is a sweet little one year old.
