Canyon's First Haircut!

Canyon got his first haircut this last week. It was a great internal debate for me to finally decide to get it done. I loved his baby curls. They are so cute! But as soon as Canyon would take a nap or sit in his car seat his curls would go straight for the rest of the day. I was also having a hard time getting rid of another baby thing on Canyon. Getting his hair cut would make him a little boy and not a baby. However, Canyon was definitely having the business on top and party in the back hair do. I finally got up the courage to just get it cut.
I took Canyon to my friend Heidi who does a great job with cutting hair, especially with first time haircuts. This is a picture of Canyon's mullet: the before picture.

Canyon was upset at first and he started crying as soon as Heidi started combing his hair.

Then we got him a sucker and he was good to go.

Bye Bye mullet! He really does look like a little boy now and he is still very handsome.

Canyon is still a little traumatized but Heidi did a great job! Thanks Heidi.

Plus, Canyon no longer looks like he is related to this guy:) Thanks Heavens!! Right after we got his haircut I decided to take him to baby animal days at This is the Place Monument to make up for the haircut. Here is a baby cow that came up to the fence to see Canyon.
He loved the baby lambs and tried to feed them wood chips. The seemed interested at first. When the wouldn't eat them Canyon settled on throwing them into their food dish.

Canyon and Max hanging out with the baby goats.

Canyon loved the baby bunnies. Here he is giving one of them a love.

Canyon really liked all of the animals expect for the baby ducks. They really freaked him out. Sure, he is best friends with a 75 pound dog that looks like a wolf but a tiny duck is very scary to him.
Canyon also got to go on his very first real live pony ride...but again he is scared of a baby duck.

We also walked around the pioneer village. Canyon loved the mini village. He looked giant next to those little houses.

Here is Canyon driving the train. I think he had forgiven me for his haircut by this point.

By the time we got home he was exhausted after a long day. What a little darling. I guess he is still my baby after all.

Swimming Pools and Wienie Roasts

I think summer is finally here...hopefully. We have been able to enjoy some summer activities recently and it has been a blast. We took Canyon swimming and he loved it! He is like a little fish. Of course he wouldn't sit in a floaty, he wanted to swim around without being trapped in one. I wasn't really surprised since he hates his car seat or anything else that restricts him.

Canyon loved jumping off the side of the pool into the water. He even puts his entire face under water! We had to keep a really close eye on him because he just wanted to jump in the pool over and over again. Our second summer activity was the traditional wienie roast. Every year Daniel's uncle Tim has a wienie roast in the orchard and burns some of the wood from pruning the trees. It is so much fun! Here are Aunt Lindsey and Canyon enjoying the fire. Canyon was very hungry and snacked on the Graham crackers for the smores before dinner.

I tried to get a good picture of everyone gathered around the fire roasting hot dogs but the smoke changed directions right when I took it.

Canyon loved the tractor! All he wanted to do was sit on it and drive it. He looks so small!

After everyone is finished with their hot dogs and smores, Tim takes all the kids on a tractor/trailer ride through the orchard. It is such a fun tradition and Canyon loved it! Here are Canyon and I and Aunt Lindsey and Lydia about to go for a ride.

50 cent Zoo, more easter pics and other adventures

A few weekends ago we went to visit Aunt Lindsey and cousin Max in the fun filled city of Logan! We decided to take the kids to the 50 cent zoo. It was awesome! We got to see monkeys, turtles, bobcats, coyotes, antelopes, elk, all sorts of birds, and an albino porcupine that we mistaked for my mom's cat Bumblemuffin. It was such a fun zoo. Canyon LOVED it. He especially liked the different birds. He got to run around and he went from animal to animal trying to get closer. As you can see from this pic below, he was very excited.

Here are Canyon and I checking out some turtles.

Here is another pic of Canyon on Easter. This one is cuter than the one I posted before. We also recently spent a weekend in Moab for the car show. Canyon loved camping once again. He also loved 'driving' the jeep.

This was Canyon's playpen for the weekend. The back of Uncle Ryan's truck. He loved playing back there and it made a nice enclosed area where we could keep an eye him!

The family in Moab. If you look closely you can see Canyon's shirt. It is an Indiana Jones shirt. Daniel picked it out for him.

Here is Canyon riding in the back of the jeep. He loved riding without the top on. Isn't he cute:)
Little Canyon so tuckered out after of full day of jeep trails and car shows. That was my favorite part of the trip because my little baby doesn't snuggle very often anymore. He was such a good boy!
