Hoogle Zoo Here We Come!

A few weeks ago Daniel had work off and school off and did not have any other engagements (which very very rarely happens) so we took a spur of the moment trip to the zoo. We packed a lunch and headed up. While we were driving the skies got darker and darker. We thought it would just be a cloudy day but about 15 minutes after we got to the zoo, it started pouring rain! We didn't want to leave because we just spent a bunch of money to get in! We decided to make the best out of the situation. We put on our rain coats and braved the storm. We went from place to place that had some sort of cover to offer when we got there.
Daniel wrapped up Oakley in his coat.

We covered Oakley with Daniel's coat when we had to go long distances and covered Canyon's legs with a plastic bag from our car so his legs wouldn't get wet.

It rained for about two hours! But the best part was, everyone left! So when the storm was over and the sun came out, it was a really fun and beautiful day at the zoo with hardly anyone there. It was great.

No this is not Sigfried or Roy :)

We rode the train and the carousel and played on the playground. It ended up being a great day at the zoo despite the few set backs we encountered.

The rest of the summer...part 2

Ok-so here is what we did the rest of the summer (yup, a summer update in the middle of October). Daniel celebrated his 30th birthday! So for his birthday we bought him a Harley! Why not beat the mid-life crisis before it beats you :)
Yes- he always wears a helmet.
No- he is not one of the those drivers that weaves in and out of traffic and cuts you off every 5 seconds.
Yes- we have a life insurance policy.
Yes- our date nights got a lot more fun!
So this summer I was having a pity party/second child syndrome for Oakley. I was feeling bad that he did not get as much attention as Canyon did when he was a baby. But in July my brother and his family came to visit all they way from Washington just to see little Oakley. I was so grateful that they came. It was just what I needed to put my pity party to an end. Just knowing that they cared so much about little Oakley to drive all that way made my summer :)

Canyon and Clara were pretty much inseperable from the start. Clara was so sweet to Canyon. They walked around holding hands and Clara would play with him and read him stories.

We did a ton of fun things while they were here. We saw Toy Story 3, had a few bbq's, went swimming, went shopping, and went to Ogden and spent times at Lindsey's house just to name a few things we did. We went to Uncle Devin's work, the Hill Air force Base and looked at all the airplanes.

One of the workers let us into one of the airplanes. So cool!

This is Alex. Would you believe that Daniel also dressed up in an astronaut outfit? Well he did, and then my camera died :( I felt a little bit like I had 3 kids at the museum. Daniel really loves museums!
Hayley, Clara, Lindsey, Max, Grammie, Canyon, Oakley and I went to Kangaroo Zoo. It was pretty much a blast for the kids.

Ok-Lindsey and I may have snuck on one or two :)

After having Hayley and Clara around, I wasn't sure how I was going to go back to living without them. They were incredible helpers and great big sisters to Canyon and Oakley.

We also had family pictures taken. I just took a few pics during down time.

Clara and Oakley.

All the cousins....Hayley, Jacob, Alex, Clara, Zack, Miles, Canyon, Max, Sophie, and Oakley.

Of course the boys played in the dirt and rocks.

Then it was time to say goodbye. It was so sad to see them go. Canyon misses Clara and Hayley so much! He still talks about them. Thanks for coming Nickels Fam!!!!
