The rest of the summer...part 2

Ok-so here is what we did the rest of the summer (yup, a summer update in the middle of October). Daniel celebrated his 30th birthday! So for his birthday we bought him a Harley! Why not beat the mid-life crisis before it beats you :)
Yes- he always wears a helmet.
No- he is not one of the those drivers that weaves in and out of traffic and cuts you off every 5 seconds.
Yes- we have a life insurance policy.
Yes- our date nights got a lot more fun!
So this summer I was having a pity party/second child syndrome for Oakley. I was feeling bad that he did not get as much attention as Canyon did when he was a baby. But in July my brother and his family came to visit all they way from Washington just to see little Oakley. I was so grateful that they came. It was just what I needed to put my pity party to an end. Just knowing that they cared so much about little Oakley to drive all that way made my summer :)

Canyon and Clara were pretty much inseperable from the start. Clara was so sweet to Canyon. They walked around holding hands and Clara would play with him and read him stories.

We did a ton of fun things while they were here. We saw Toy Story 3, had a few bbq's, went swimming, went shopping, and went to Ogden and spent times at Lindsey's house just to name a few things we did. We went to Uncle Devin's work, the Hill Air force Base and looked at all the airplanes.

One of the workers let us into one of the airplanes. So cool!

This is Alex. Would you believe that Daniel also dressed up in an astronaut outfit? Well he did, and then my camera died :( I felt a little bit like I had 3 kids at the museum. Daniel really loves museums!
Hayley, Clara, Lindsey, Max, Grammie, Canyon, Oakley and I went to Kangaroo Zoo. It was pretty much a blast for the kids.

Ok-Lindsey and I may have snuck on one or two :)

After having Hayley and Clara around, I wasn't sure how I was going to go back to living without them. They were incredible helpers and great big sisters to Canyon and Oakley.

We also had family pictures taken. I just took a few pics during down time.

Clara and Oakley.

All the cousins....Hayley, Jacob, Alex, Clara, Zack, Miles, Canyon, Max, Sophie, and Oakley.

Of course the boys played in the dirt and rocks.

Then it was time to say goodbye. It was so sad to see them go. Canyon misses Clara and Hayley so much! He still talks about them. Thanks for coming Nickels Fam!!!!

6 Months Old

Oakley turned 6 months on August 5th (now he is already 7 and half months!!!). These are his 6 month pictures. Oakley is a funny baby. At six months his favorite food is sweet potatoes. He loves playing with toys-especially Canyon's cars. He has recently decided that he needs to be held constantly which has made life a little challenging lately. He is sitting up and rolls all over the place to get where he needs to go. Oakley loves sleeping and loves his crib :) He also loves Canyon! Whenever he sees Canyon he gets excited and gets a huge smile on his face. Canyon also loves Oakley and is still learning how to soft to a baby. Oakley is one tough boy after having Canyon for a brother.
At six months Oakley weighed 14 lbs (4%) and was 26.75 in. (63%) tall. Canyon and Oakley were the exact same height at 6 months.
Oakley Bear is such a sweet little baby. We just love him to pieces!!

The rest of summer....Part 1

Here are so more fun things we did this summer:
My mom had free tickets to Trafalga so we went mini golfing and also got a bunch of free tokens for the arcade. Canyon loved every minute of it.

Look at that form!

Oakley was the score keeper.

The Jorgensens were there too. With all of our free tokens we played arcade games and tried to save up as many tickets as possible so we could get Max and Canyon a cool prize. We had a TON of tickets....and were able to get the kids a small chalk board and a green army man. :( Oh well, it was still a ton of fun anyway!
Daniel and I went took the kids and went to Park City for a little get away.

The best part was that we went to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for breakfast. Delicious!

We celebrated Strawberry Days in Pleasant Grove. We went to the carnival, twice! Our kids are spoiled!

Oakley was mesmerized by all the carnival lights. Look how chubby he looks!

We also went to the Strawberry days parade. Canyon and Max loved getting all the candy that was thrown. Oakley enjoyed the parade from under the umbrella in his bumbo seat.

Daniel and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary! 4 years and 2 kids later we are still going strong!

We spent some time in the mountains-not nearly as much as we would have liked :(

I discovered that boys are dirty. Canyon can be outside for 5 seconds and suddenly be filthy dirty. I think they are literally magnets for dirt!

We had two weddings this summer. Daniel's cousin Emily got married to Chris. And Daniel's sister Lindsey got married to Justin. They both married in the temple and had beautiful receptions in the orchard. Canyon loved waiting at the temple for them. He was so excited to see the temple. Congrats you guys!

Canyon LOVES water. So when the irrigation water comes to the orchard-Canyon strips down and plays in it-even though it is freezing cold. It gets pretty deep. It's like his own personal swimming pool!

The Fourth of July was awesome this year because we got to celebrate it twice. On Saturday we had a barbecue with the Nickels fam. We then attended the Pleasant Grove firework show. It proved to be very entertaining when a few of the fireworks shot directly into the crowd!

Afterwards we went back and shot off our own fireworks-which Canyon decided was the scariest thing ever!
On Monday we celebrated with the Furr's by going to the parade. Every year someone braves the early morning (like 3 in the morning!) and saves everyone else seats. We eat donuts and enjoy the parade.

After the parade it is off to get snow cones... because the donuts did not give us our sugar fill :) That evening is the famous Crandall barbecue complete with great food, volleyball, and making blankets for the children's hospital. This year, Daniel's jeep found an eternal companion!

Then it was off to Amy and Jared's for more fireworks. We ended up having to take Canyon home because he was terrified of them. We had a great 4th of July!
Canyon and Oakley eating breakfast one morning. Even eating breakfast is fun in the summer!

To be continued....

Oakley's Blessing Day

Oakley was blessed on June 13, 2010. He was 4 months old. It took us awhile to be able to find a weekend when everyone was going to be in town and able to come. It looked like we were not going to be able to find a time so we decided we better do it before he could walk up there himself! :) Lindsey, Devin and Max were not going to be able to come, but they drove home from a family reunion in Idaho and surprised us by showing up in sacrament meeting! What a great surprise. Oakley did great! He was very quiet and calm during the blessing. It brought tears to my eyes to see all the worthy priesthood holders get up to bless Oakley. What a great support system our little family has. And what good examples my little boys have to look up to and follow. Oakley's blessing was awesome and I was so proud to be his mommy!
Oakley proved himself to be the great baby he is by sitting quietly during the rest of sacrament meeting and he went down for nap right when we got home from church. He is a little sweetheart.
Boys can have cute blessing outfits too! Little white shoes! So handsome.

The blanket we wrapped Oakley in was the blanket I was wrapped in on my blessing day. Courtesy of my mom.

Daddy and Oakley on Oakley's special day. The day went great! We had a lot of family, a wonderful blessing, lots of yummy food, and the weather held out until the party was over (it looked like rain the entire day)! Thanks to everyone who came to support little Oakley!

Sleepy Baby Oakley

In case anyone was wondering...

I'm a little obsessed with my cute sleeping baby! Wouldn't you be too?!
