Merry Christmas!

I never knew Christmas could be so much fun with kids. In fact, it is a lot more fun. Canyon was so cute when he opened his presents on Christmas morning. Except the first one he opened he wanted to play with and wasn't really interested in the remaining presents. He got the most excited about the yogurt bites that were in his stocking:) By the end of the day and two grandparents' houses later, Canyon had had it and he was done with trying to open presents. Daniel got rock band 2 and Canyon decided that he liked to play with the drums more than any other present that Santa had brought him. Isn't he cute in his Santa shirt!

Here Comes Santa

We have taken to Canyon to see Santa three times this year, although we didn't mean to. The first time he saw Santa with his cousins and it ended up being a tramatic experience for him. The second time Daniel and I dressed him up in a cute outfit, waited in line forever, and when it was finally our turn, my camera had a breakdown. I was mad. So we were out Christmas shopping at the Provo mall and there was no line for Santa. Third times the charm because Canyon sat on Santa's lap very nicely and we finally got some good pictures of him. Canyon loved the bells on Santa's outfit and he got a coloring book at the end that he was very excited about.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Today we woke up to about a foot of snow on the ground. We were so excited because it is the first snow that has stuck to the ground this year! We all bundled up and went outside to play in the snow. Poor Canyon was like the little boy on Christmas Story who was so bundled up he couldn't move his arms. And finally Aspen had something good happen to her. She ran around the yard probably 20 times while jumping and rolling in the snow. Canyon laughed and laughed as he watched Aspen play in the snow. Canyon didn't quite know what to think about the snow. He ate some and thought it was pretty good. Canyon even went on a four wheeler ride with Daniel and they plowed the sidewalks for the neighbors. It finally felt like Christmas today.

O Christmas Tree

We got our Christmas about a week ago and finally got to decorate it. We got a real tree this year and it is beautiful and smells sooo good. Canyon absolutely loves the tree and all the other Christmas decorations that light up. He starts breathing heavy when he sees it and gets a big smile on his face. He pulls off the lights and the decorations several times a day which comes with the territory of having a baby. Canyon is so proud of himself when he gets a decoration off (we made sure to put the non-breakable ones on the bottom). We also recently had our ward christmas party. Daniel played his guitar and sang Jack Johnson's version of rudolph the red nosed reindeer. I was going to post his performance on the blog but Daniel would not let me:( But just so every knows, it sounded awesome! As you can see from the picture below, Canyon was very excited about the tree.

Poor, Poor Aspen:(

We have had our dog Aspen now for almost 4 years. In that time she has been on many backpacking trips with Daniel and I. Whenever we take her we worry about two things: Aspen running away with a pack of wolves and living in the wild and getting caught in an animal trap. Well, Daniel had to go do backup down in Escalante, UT this weekend for a trek that out there. While he was hiking into their camp, Aspen's leg was caught in a coyote trap!!! She started yelping like crazy and Daniel ran over to see what was the matter and our worst fear had come true. It took Daniel almost 5 minutes to get her leg out of the dang trap all the while with Aspen freaking out. Miraculously, her leg was not broken. The trap didn't even break the skin! It was also a miracle that Daniel was able to get the trap open by himself. It is crazy that Heavenly Father will even watch after his animals and we are so thankful that He did! As soon as her leg was free, Aspen walked away. She has a little limp and again some hurt pride but other than that she is fine. What a blessing! Daniel was ticked so he dismantled the trap and brought it home. The owner of the trap left his name on it. Daniel did some investigating once he was back in town and found out that it is illegal to trap in that area. The guy has a heard of cattle so he leaves coyote traps out there anyway. If anybody knows L.H. Hall he had better watch out because there might be a few of his cattle that have coyote traps wrapped around their legs! Canyon has been very concerned about Aspen's sad sad attitude and has been hanging out with her. It has been a very traumatic experience for both Daniel and Aspen.

Thanksgiving!

Canyon had a lot of excitement on his first Thanksgiving. Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Laurel came to visit along with his cousins Hayley, Clara, and Zack. We had family pictures taken, a ride up in the mountains, and fun filled nights of rock band. Canyon loved to play with the big boy cousins, Zack and Miles. He also loved trying to pull the glasses off of Clara's face. Canyon is now old enough to eat real food. He didn't like the turkey or mashed potatoes so much, but he loved the cranberry sauce. I had to lay him on the floor so I could take picture of his thanksgiving shirt. He is so active I could only snap one before he rolled over and crawled away.

Canyon is getting very adventurous. He is army crawling everywhere. One of his favorite places to explore is underneath the table. He has stopped trying to crawl on his hands and knees because he has gotten so good at crawling on his tummy. Some of Canyon's favorite treats are gerber yogurt bites. Today I walked into our kitchen, set something down, and went back into our living room where Canyon was playing. He had crawled over to the bag of yogurt bites, dumped them onto the ground, and was stuffing handfuls of them into his mouth as fast as he could. When he saw me he tried to eat them faster. He probably downed 12 yogurt bites in the one minute that I was gone.He is such a little rascal! Here is a picture of Canyon under the table doing some exploring.

A season to be THANKFUL

Yesterday we paid $1.95 for gas. What a great day!! Also, the new girls program that Daniel is the program director for, finally opened. The program is in Provo so no more driving the hour long commute to Mona!!!! His commute is now 8 minutes. That gives Canyon and I almost two extra hours to spend with Daniel on the days he works. That makes both of them very happy! (And I finally figured out how to flip pictures. Thanks Nikki!)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Canyon was a lion for Halloween. First we went to the trunk or treat for our ward. Canyon's costume was hit. One lady even told us that he was beautiful boy. Canyon then got to visit the grandparents houses. He went trick or treating with his cousins. He had a lot of fun except for the fact that he hated his costume and he was very upset at us for making him wear it, but he looked so cute I couldn't stand to take it off of him:)

Pumpkin Carving

One of my favorite Halloween traditions is carving pumpkins. We always get our pumpkins from the super awesome produce store called Verd's. It has excellent produce and we got three pumpkins for five dollars. Anyway, we decided to carve one for little Canyon this year. He loves the pumpkins and tries to hold them. When he sees them he gives them a big cheesy smile. He even liked to put his hands in the pumpkin guts while we were carving them. Here is Canyon with his pumpkin.

Canyon

Canyon is 8 months old today. I can't believe it, it went by so fast. Canyon has two bottom teeth. He army crawls and scoots himself all over the place. (I expect that he will be crawling soon.) He has already figured out how to open drawers and cupboards much to my disappointment. Canyon pulls himself up on furniture and anything else he can reach. His favorite trick is to pull himself up in his crib, hold onto the rail, and bounce up and down on the mattress. Canyon loves it when mom and dad help him walk around. He thinks he is so cool when he is walking. He still hates his car seat and basically anything that he has to be strapped in. He is such a free spirit! Canyon is also saying da da. It is very nice in the morning when he yells da da because then I can tell Daniel that Canyon is calling for him and I don't have to get up...Daniel falls for it every time:)

Beach Cruisin'

One of my favorite things to do is to ride my sweet beach cruiser bike. It is my most prized worldly possession. This summer we purchased a bike trailer so Canyon could ride along with me. It took a few bike rides for him to finally enjoy it, but now he loves going for rides. Daniel also has a beach cruiser so it is a fun Furr family activity we have been trying to do on a daily basis before the weather gets too cold. Here is a picture of my bike and Canyon in the trailer. (Canyon was having a little trouble blinking when the camera would flash.)

Grand Tetons

We also got to go to the Grand Tetons. Hidden right below them is Jenny Lake. Daniel and I went there on our honeymoon and canoed across it. Canyon loved playing with the rocks by the shore. He even got on his tummy to get a better view of them. He also liked to watch Daniel skip rocks on the water.

Jackson Hole and Yellowstone

Last week Daniel had some time off of school so we went to Jackson Hole, WY and Yellowstone. Vacations are very different with kids but we still had a lot of fun! This is us in Yellowstone at mud volcano hot pots. Canyon loved watching the churning water. Also, Canyon is now throwing his binkie. We stopped off at the side of the road because some buffalo were crossing right in front of us. We had the windows rolled down and Canyon decided to throw his binkie out of the window and right into the path of the buffalo. I had to sneak out of the car and step directly in it's path and risked getting gored. I retrieved the binkie and everything turned out ok...luckily. Here is Canyon sitting in front of Old Faithful. ( I couldn't figure out how to flip the picture)

Aspen's bad day

A few days ago our dog Aspen was involved in an unfortunate incident at the ranch. A white and fluffy runt mule named Marshmallow kicked Aspen in the face. She has a tiny cut below her eye and it is a little bit swollen. Although she is ok physically, her pride is not. She layed around the entire day after the incident. She has pretty much lost the will to live after being punked by a little white mule. Here is Canyon trying to make her feel better.

Since I barley started this blog I though I would post some more cute pictures of Canyon when he was little. This is Canyon on the day he was born.

Here is Canyon's first hike in Snow Canyon, Utah. The wind was blowing a little bit which explains the look on his cute face!

Cascade Springs

We took a family outing to Cascade Springs a few days ago. Canyon loved looking at the water and tried to grab the leaves off of the trees. Canyon loves being outside!

Hi everyone. I learned how to do a blog so I can keep you all updated on what happening in the Furr family life. Daniel is currently going to school in recreation managment at UVU and opening a girls program with the Journey. Stacy is also working from home for the Journey and gets to spend most of her time with seven month old Canyon. Canyon pretty much rules the household but that's ok because he is very cute!
